STRONGSVILLE, OH -National independent mortgage bank, Union Home Mortgage, recently completed a two-week food drive during the holidays supporting local food banks in their markets. More than 60 branch locations across the nation participated in the annual drive as drop off locations for donations. Launched on Giving Tuesday, the third annual Partner Up for Plates donation drive resulted in a collection of over 43,000 food items to help fill local food banks for the winter. In Northeast Ohio alone, where the company’s headquarters are located, 33,000 items were donated to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank – where the company also sponsored a Match Campaign celebrating Giving Tuesday.
Of the recent campaign, CEO Bill Cosgrove states “During the holidays, it’s always a great time to reflect on the things we are most grateful for. One thing we often forget to include in this list is access to basic human essentials – like food – which isn’t always a given. The success of our communities and the families within them matter and remain at the heart of what we do. This campaign, while fun for our partners, has truly become a staple of our work in the community and evidence of the difference we can make when we join together to help our “neighbors” in need.”
Partner Up for Plates is just one of the company’s many community initiatives, which include a paid volunteer time off policy and a nationwide back-to-school supply drive. In 2015, the company’s CEO Bill Cosgrove launched the Union Home Mortgage Foundation to equip families with the tools and resources to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Since that time, the Foundation has awarded close to $700,000 to programs focused on financial literacy, education, career readiness and housing programs.
