Tampa, Fla. – Dec. 22, 2021 – Union Home Mortgage (UHM) Foundation announced today that it is giving $10,000 to the Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County as part of Habitat’s annual Realtor Build.
Each spring, Habitat launches its annual Realtor Build for a Tampa family in need of a safe home. Real estate agencies and banks contribute funding for the house while their staff volunteer labor to build the home (as appropriate during COVID-19 health restrictions).
Habitat Hillsborough and Union Home Mortgage have partnered for the past two years to help families find strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. This year, UHM Foundation is doubling the size of last year’s gift to $10,000 from $5,000.
“We are thrilled to join together again this year with Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County,” said Bill Cosgrove, President and CEO of Union Home Mortgage. “It is our mission to make home ownership achievable to all, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to make that possible for a family in need right here in Tampa.”
“We believe that home ownership is the number one way to create wealth in America,” said Tina Forcier, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County. “Thanks to Union Home Mortgage Foundation for providing that opportunity to a family in our community just in time for Christmas.”
Construction on the home will begin in summer 2022, and the family will move in later that year. The chosen family will help construct and put the finishing touches on the home.
Representatives from UHM Foundation, including UHM CEO Bill Cosgrove, will present the donation to representatives of Habitat as part of the Gasparilla Bowl festivities on Wednesday, Dec. 22. UHM is the title sponsor of the Gasparilla Bowl.
